Situations often overtake you with their speed and sudden change in direction. Last post I mentioned that my retirement could be on the horizon. Well, on the 4th September 2016 my service ended and I retired from the organisation I had spent nearly 29 years part of. It is an interesting situation to be in - the loss of the 'status' you have as an officer has been, for some at least, difficult to transition into. I must admit that the day I gave my warrant card back was an entertaining one, but now I feel that I can put that side of my life virtually away forever.
Thus, with new poems being written, new songs in collaboration with Keith (and a resurrected 'UnderTow'; I face the next few months with eager anticipation. I am looking forward to completing the writing projects that I'm still in the midst of working upon as well as having published my first novella - 'Reflections: Memories of a Woman.' This will cause an issue in the new year as I have, without realising it - named my current collection of poetry for 2016 'Reflections in the Mirror'. This is a poetry diary of the year, every poem placed into the monthly chronology that it was written within and it will be available as both digital and print editions in early 2017. So, my brother has a new wife, I am a retired gent and I'm still hanging in there writing when the words come to me unbidden. I'm hopeful that, at some point, I'll gain an audience and with this in mind I aim to approach some independent book shops in the next few weeks in order to see if I can interest them in my work. Fingers crossed eh? Keep safe, keep reading...
