I've always thought that it takes a bit of arrogance for someone to create something and decide that it should be put out for general consumption. No matter how much we feel that we are humble scribes, endeavouring in our own small way, to record things we see or feel and preserve them for the future; there has to be a spark of inner confidence that what we have to say is worthwhile when placed amongst the myriad of other voices that are shouting to be heard.
In my past life I've been used to dealing with difficult and stressful situations; arriving and controlling the incident and those present at the event as quickly and as safely as possible. Without an innate belief in one's training and a sense of one's own worth, you couldn't do it. Yet I am many others did it, day after day, month after month, year after year. It has taken me a long while to believe in the creativity that I undertake. I have been writing for many years, writing poetry and fiction of many types but always reducing them to scribbles on pages that were left on a shelf or as zeros and ones on a hard drive. I believe that my voice may be small, it may be almost insignificant in the wider world; yet I firmly believe that the work I create, however long it takes me; has some value. I hope that the first piece of fiction that I am setting free into the wild might be worth a read. It is called 'Reflections - Memories of a Woman' and is available in the Kindle Store from today. It is a story of a woman and the love she has known, good and bad, powerful and destructive. A love for one women by several men and the pathways that each person trod as a result. It has adult themes and is a fiction that I started to write many years ago, I am currently collating some of my short stories and thought that this story would be suitable - but in refining and polishing it (and bringing it up to date) it started to grow and become too large for a short story collection so I decided that it might make a novella. This is what is available from today; a story about the variety of love and how it can affect those involved. I do not think that it is representative of what I normally write; and this might be a good or a bad thing; I leave it up to others to decide on this point! I hope that, if you choose to read it, you'll find it time well spent. Whatever you chose to read, I hope that you enjoy it...
